Oberst awards
about
The Oberst Awards first began in 2003, introduced by GWBS president Amy (tempestina). When the awards began, the Oberst Award was given to a single horse that was voted by a panel of judges to be the "best" german warmblood in HFSHC.
Today the Oberst Awards are given to the best horses in each of several categories. Similar to the Eclipse Awards awarded by the TRA, the Oberst Awards are based on achievement throughout the entire year. Points are tracked throughout the year for each of the 12 monthly Warmblood breed shows, held on the 10th of every month. Today's Oberst Awards are not limited to German Warmbloods, but allow European Warmbloods to compete as well, with a "ranking" compiled at the end of the year showing the top breeds of each discipline.
